A smart business will employ two critical factors: Leveraged Income and Residual Income. These create a win/win situation.

Residual Income and Leveraged Income

Residual income (also called passive, or recurring income) is income that continues to be generated after the initial effort has been expended. 

One of the great advantages of residual income is that once things are set in motion, you continue making money from your initial efforts, while gaining time to devote to other things... such as generating more streams of residual income!

Leveraged income is that income based on J. Paul Getty's principle of "I'd rather have 1% of 100 people's efforts than 100% of my own efforts". 

This type of income is derived from others working and earning it for you, i.e., income from other peoples' efforts. If you have employees, they earn income for you whether you work or not.
